Jackfruit Seeds Rasam – Jackfruit Seeds soup – Halasina Beejada Saaru – Simple starter recipe – Simple soup recipe

This is season of Jackfruits. I saw a bag of jackfruits .. I have posted Jackfruit Seeds Dosa recently. I heard about this from my friend and she told me it is also called as Halasina Beejada Saaru. This is totally new to me. So I took the recipe from her last season itself. But only today I can try (Late is better than never right?). This goes well with steamed rice or can be served as soup.
Ingredients
Jackfruit Seeds – 8
Salt to tastes

Green Chillies – 3-4 (adjust to your spice level. Slit into 2)
Rasam Powder – 2 tablespoon
Garlic – 3 pods
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Tamarind paste – 1 teaspoon (thick paste)
Tomatoes – 1 (Chopped finely)
Curry leaves – 15
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Hing – asafoetida – a pinch
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)


Method:

Cook the Jackfruit seeds with salt and Turmeric powder

Grind cooked jackfruit seeds into smooth paste with rasam powder, Salt and tomatoes. Add Tamarind paste and mix well

Heat the oil. Add mustard seeds, Cumin seeds and let it pop. Add Curry leaves, green chillies, garlic, Asafoetida and fry till slight brown color. 

Add grinded jackfruit seeds paste and water (I have added 1.5 cups. you can adjust based on your preferred consistency) Mix well. Let it get cook till you start to see foam. Add coriander leaves. and mix well. 

Switch it off and serve hot
