Jangiri recipe – How to make Jangiri – Jangri recipes -Sweets Recipe – Diwali recipe

This is one of the recipes which I have wanted to try for quite some time; to be exact, for the last six years. Every time I will have this on my to do list but I always thought it was difficult to do. This year I was determined to do it for Diwali/Deepavali. I watched a few videos and it seemed quite simple. After those videos, I felt confident but I still felt a little fearful about if it would turn out well. In the end it came out so juicy and soft. Now, I have another sweet added to my cookbook! Yipee!
Ingredients :

Urad dhal – 1/2 Cup
Orange Food colour – 4 pinches
Rice flour/Corn flour – 1 teaspoon
Sugar – 3/4 Cup
Water – 1/2 Cup

Lemon juice – 1/2 teaspoon
Orange Food Colour – 2 pinches
Rose Essence – Few drops OR Cardamom Powder – 3/4 Teaspoon

Method:

Wash and soak urad dhal for 2 hours. Drain the water and grind it to a thick paste with little water.

Add cardamom powder, food color . Mix well.

Take Ziploc bag and fill it with batter. Seal it. Cut a hole at the bottom. Press and practice it

Make sugar syrup. Add 1/2 cup of water to 3/4 cup sugar. Don’t stir too much. Let the sugar syrup boil and let it boil for 2-3 mins. This doesn’t require string consistency.

Add food color, essence or cardamom powder (if using) mix well. Add lemon juice and mix well. Switch it off.

Heat oil in a flat pan. Oil shouldn’t be too hot. When it starts to form bubbles at the bottom you can press Jangiri.

Let it cook at low flame.

Once you are done, add to sugar syrup. let it sit in sugar syrup for 2 mins. Remove it and arrange it on a plate.

After two hours, enjoy!
