Kadai Paneer

Kids love Paneer. Any dish with Paneer is hit with them. Most of the time I try to do Gravy type of vegetables for Chappathi. Last week when we had our dinner out we have ordered kadai paneer. And everyone liked it. So I wanted to try it out at home..Luckily I had all the ingredients at home. It is one of the easiest Paneer dish.
Ingredients:

Paneer – 1 block of paneer (400 g), cut into 1 inch cubes
Onions -2
Tomatoes – 3
Cashew Nuts – 10 -12 (Fried till it is brown. I normally use baked one or dry roasted one. Optional for garnishing)
Red bell pepper -1/2
Yellow bell pepper – 1/2
Green bell pepper-1/2
Ginger – 1 Inch (chopped finely) + 1 teaspoon of grated ginger for garnishing
Garlic – 6-8 Pods (chopped finely)
Green Chillies – 2-4 (adjust to your spice level) I have used only 2
Red chilli powder – 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (adjust to ur spice level. I have added 1 teaspoon)
Garam masala powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Dhania powder / Coriander seed powder – 1 teaspoon
Sugar – 1.5 teaspoon (optional)
Oil – 1.5 tablespoon
Dry methi leaves – 2 teaspoon (soak it in hot water for 15 mins)
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves / Cilantro – 1 tablespoon for garnishing

Method:

Slice the bell bepper into 1.5 to 2 inch thin slices.
Heat kada and add 2 teaspoon oil in a kada. Add Onion, Tomatoes, Garlic and ginger and fry till it is mushy. ( I have added onion to it you can omit onion here and add when you make the gravy). Add slit green chillies to it. Fry for another 30 sec to a min. Switch it off and let it cool down. When it is cool down grind to coarse paste and keep it aside

Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in the kada and fry the paneer cubes till it sides are slight brown. Keep it aside

Heat rest of the oil in the kada. Add cumin seeds and let it crackle.. Add the grinded gravy and fry till oil comes out of it. Add gram masala, chilli powder, coriander powder and fry till nice aroma comes out of it. Add dried methi leaves. Mix well

Add Paneer and mix well. And let it cook for another 5-7 mins. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves

Serve hot with naans, rotis or jeera rice.
