I love to try different chutney/dip recipes. Coconut chutney is one of the everyday items (either for breakfast or dinner) back home. However those days I am not a big fan of coconut. As I mentioned in other posts during younger days my mum keeps everything without coconut for me and with coconut for the rest of the family (Mum is mum) now after marriage and kids I know the pain of making different things for different people (without onion, without peas etc…) I came across this version from one of my colleagues. Love the flavour of this. This goes well with dosa / adai or paratha or puri.
Ingredients:
Fresh Coconut grating – 1 cup
Red chilies – 3-4
Tamarind – small marble size ball
Ginger – 1/2 teaspoon
salt to taste
For tempering
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 10
Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Red chilies – 1
small onion – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Method:
Grind all the ingredients under ingredients section with required water
Heat oil and add mustard seeds let it pop. Add curry leaves, urad dal, red chilli. Fry till brown color. Add onion and fry till transparent
Add this to grinded chutney mix well
serve it with dosa, adai, poori, puri or paratha
