This dish has similar taste to Adai or Thavalai vada. I made this with freshly grinded batter but if you have adai batter you can use that too. In Adai batter you will use Idli rice but in this I have used raw rice. It is so crisp when it is hot. I preferred it hot. Once it cools down it becomes more soft. For me I don’t need any side dish but coconut chutney will go well with it. I have added chopped (small) coconut I loved that way than grated coconut. You can make it based on your preference. Since I did it as naivedyam I didn’t add Onion you if you want add chopped small onions
Ingredients
Bengal gram dal – 1/2 cup
Toor Dal – 1/2 cup
Urad dal – 1/4 cup
Raw rice – 1/4 cup
Red chillies – 4
asafoetida / Hing – Generous pinch
Curry leaves – 10 (Finely chopped)
Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Green chllies – 1 (chopped finely)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Soak all dals, rice and red chillies together for 2 hours. Drain the water. Transfer it to mixer or blender.. Grind it in mixer with salt and hing with little water.
Transfer to bowl. Add rest of ingredients except oil and mix well
Heat oil. Place bite size pieces Cook till all the sides are cooked.
Drain oil and remove it. Place it in kitchen tissue to drain extra oil
Serve hot
