Maida Seedai – Pooja recipes – Gokulashtami Recipes – Diwali recipes – krishna jayanthi recipes

My friend brought uppu seedai to office and I was telling her about my fear of it bursting etc.. to her and she told me that hers is made out of maida and it doesn’t burst. Maida Seedai is new to me. I got the recipe from her. I do this for past couple Gokulashtamis. I was not able to post as I stored the photos somewhere I could not get hold of. Recently I was cleaning the shelves and trying to get rid of old computers. And when I saw this photos i was so happy! So here you go with the recipe
Ingredients:

Maida – 2 cups
Urad dhal flour – 1 tablespoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Grated coconut – 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Asafoetida/Hing – 1/4 teaspoon
Melted Butter – 1 tablespoon
Oil for deep frying

Method:

Roast Urad dhal powder, grated coconut one by one. Keep it aside.

Take the maida in clean white cloth and tie the ends and make nice bag as shown in the pic. Steam it for 20 mins.

Let it cool down till you can handle it. Break it into fine flour. Sieve it with roasted urad dhal to remove any lumps.

Take fine maida flour in a broader vessel, add roasted Melted butter, urad flour, sesame seeds, grated coconut, cumin seeds, Asafoetida and salt. Mix well. Add water little by little to make smooth non sticky dough.

Roll seedais. Heat oil for deep frying.

Fry the seedai in low flame towards end increase the flame to get nice golden color. Drain extra water and leave it on kitchen tissue to drain excess oil.

Let it cool down and store it in air tight container
