Masala Dosa – Dosa with Potato Filling – Dosa recipes – breakfast, Dinner recipes

Masala Dosa is one of the most famous South Indian Dish esp for breakfast. I had this in my list for quite some time however I seldom do masala dosa as our family is not big fan of potato. During our last week holiday trip during our visit to restaurant to my surprise my son asked for masala dosa. So I was think why not do it at home also. So when we returned first thing I did is to try masala dosa at home. If you have left over masala you can do a sandwich with it. So here you go with the post
Ingredients:


For Masala


Potato – 3 or 4 medium size
Onion – 1
Green chillies – 2-3
Garlic – 2 pods
mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
Bengal gram dal / broken chana dal – 1 teaspoon
Green peas – 2 tablespoon
Ginger – 1 inch (finely chopped)
Curry leaves – 10
Oil- 3 teaspoon
Cashew nuts – 2 tablespoon (broken)
Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste


one day old idli batter / Dosa batter – As required
Oil for cooking Dosa



Method:


Slice the potatoes into half and boil it with salt. Mash it well.

Heat the pan with oil. Add cashew nuts and fry till brown in color. Remove only cashewnuts

Add mustard seeds let it pop. Add urad dhal, bengal gram dal, Ginger and Garlic. Fry till slight brown in color. Add onion, curry leaves and green chillies. Fry till transparent

Add mashed potato, turmeric powder, required salt and peas. mix well. Cook for another 3-5 mins. Add chopped coriander leaves mix well. Switch it off and keep it aside.

Heat the dosa pan/ Flat pan. Pour laddle full of batter and spread it outward. Sprinkle oil for cooking Dosa. 

Place the masala and spread it. Once cooked fold it as required. Take it out. we don’t have turn it over. 

Serve hot with sambar, chutney and podi
