Masala Methi khakhra recipe – Crispy wheat roti recipe – Perfect teatime snack recipe

Khakhra / khakra is a crispy flat bread , originally a Gujarathi savoury snack. This is one of most favourite snacks when I am back in India (esp during my college days) it is healthy, tasty, crunchy… list goes on. I always get it from my neighbor. After moving to SG I used to buy it. After started blogging this is in my to do list for quite sometime. Always scared of making perfect one I keep postponing. Today I wanted to make something crunchy for my kids which is not deep fried. So decide to do this. This so simple (shhh why I was so scared) and do try it out
Ingredients

Wheat flour – 1 cup
Besan flour / Chickpeas flour / Bengal gram dhal flour – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Methi leaves – 6-8 tablespoon (if you are using dry methi leaves you can use 1/4 cup)

Method:

Take all the ingredients in a wide bowl add water little by little to make stiff dough. Keep it aside for 30 mins

Divide the dough into small ball of equal size. Roll each ball into very thin roti. it has to be really thin to get crispy roti. Use bit of oil and little flour for dusting while rolling.

Heat the flat pan / griddle. When bubble start to form turn it over and using clean spoon / towel press the bubbles down. Cook till it is completely done

Cool it completely and store it in air tight container.
Enjoy it!
