mullangi keerai Poriyal – Radish Greens Poriyal – Radish greens Thoran – Simple Greens recipe

My sis always tells me about Radish Green and Beetroot greens. When I visit my mum she makes kootu out of it as she has fresh radish from her garden during Nov period. I never get chance to take photos. So this week when I saw this in wet market (Singapore farmers market) I couldn’t resist. I decided to make Thoran with it.
Ingredients


Radish green –  A Bunch (Medium)
Onion – 1/2 (chipped finely)
Red dry chilles – 3-4 (broke into rough pieces)
Salt to taste
Yellow moong dal / Split moong dhal – 1/4 cup
Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
Garlic – 3 pods (chopped finely)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil – 3 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 2 teaspoon



Method:


Clean and cut the greens. Soak moong dhal for 15 mins. Heat the pan with with oil. Add mustard seeds let it pop.Add Urad dhal and red chillies. Fry till dhals are brown in color
Add Garlic. And fry till slight brown color. Add Onion, Fry till transparent

Add Radish green and soaked moong Dhal. Add Turmeric powder, required salt. Close the lid and let it cook

Add Grated coconut and Mix well. Cook for another couple of mins

Switch it off and enjoy

    Love how u have made radish greens in poriyal. I tried using beet greens in poriyal form once but the greens had a soapy taste I could not eat it. Donoo how ur sis gets that off looking forward to seeing that recipe too.
