My Son was having cold and he has Rasam only he has cold or fever. Otherwise rasam is only for our weekend :-). Whenever I make Rasam I take it as soup.
Ingredients:
Thuar Dhal – 1/2 cup
Coriander Seeds – 1/2 table spoon
Cumin Seeds – 11/2 Teaspoon
Pepper – 5
Red Chillies – 3
Tamarind – Small Lemon sized
Garlic – 4
Curry Leaves – 2 Strings
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Tomato – 1/2
Asafoetida – a pinch
Mustard Seeds -1/4 teaspoon
Sat as required
Oil – 2 teaspoon
Method:
Wash Thuar Dhal add just enough water, broken chillies, turmeric powder, garlic, pepper, cumin seeds, curry leaves 1 string and Coriander Seeds
Pressure cook till one whistle and allow to cool
Remove excess water from cooked dhal and grind to coarse paste in mixie
Add dhal water, salt and ground dhal paste with enough water and boil for few mins
Add oil in small kada when the oil is hot add mustard seeds and remaining curry leaves. When mustard seeds start to splutter add rasam.
Grate Tomato and add to Rasam and let it cook for 4 min
Switch off and serve hot
