Oats murukku recipe – Oats Pottukadalai Murukku recipe – Oats Chakli recipe – Snack Recipe – Diwali Recipe – Deepavali Recipes – Kids friendly Recipe

My kids are crazy about homemade murukku. Since these days I go to India almost once a month I seldom get chance to make snacks at home as I pack most of the stuff from India. Other day My son told me I am not making much of murukku because I have posted the recipes in my blog Smiley.. Also as there were preparing for the exam I asked them what kind of snack they wanted they told me they want Murukku. I had some oats flour left after my waffles so I decided to use that. This is first time I tried by adding it to coffee.. It tasted divine.. do try out if you haven’t done it before
Ingredients:
Idiyappam Flour / Rice flour – 2 cups (I have used Idiyappam flour)
Pottukadalai / Roasted gram Dhal Flour – 1/4 Cup
Oats flour – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Butter – 1.5 tablespoon
Sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
Oil for Deep frying

Method:

Add Idiyappam Flour, Oats, Roasted Gram flour in a bowl. Add Salt, Chilli powder, cumin seeds, Butter, Sesame seeds and Hing. Add water little by little to make a smooth Stif dough

Take the star holed plate in the murukku press and fill it with the prepared dough. Make favourite shape murukku on a tissue paper by pressing the murukku press. You can do it on the back of the laddle too..

Heat oil in kadai , When it is hot add pressed murukku Turn it after 1 min and fry till the are cooked or till hissing sound subside. Drain from oil to paper towels.

Store it in airtight container.

Murukku looks super crunchy and addictive. My grandma used to make murukkus and I used to put them in coffee and drink.. Missing those good old days.. The last picture brought back those memories.
