My kids are crazy about homemade murukku. Since these days I go to India almost once a month I seldom get chance to make snacks at home as I pack most of the stuff from India. Other day My son told me I am not making much of murukku because I have posted the recipes in my blog
Ingredients:
Idiyappam Flour / Rice flour – 2 cups (I have used Idiyappam flour)
Pottukadalai / Roasted gram Dhal Flour – 1/4 Cup
Oats flour – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Butter – 1.5 tablespoon
Sesame seeds – 1 teaspoon
Oil for Deep frying
Method:
Add Idiyappam Flour, Oats, Roasted Gram flour in a bowl. Add Salt, Chilli powder, cumin seeds, Butter, Sesame seeds and Hing. Add water little by little to make a smooth Stif dough
Take the star holed plate in the murukku press and fill it with the prepared dough. Make favourite shape murukku on a tissue paper by pressing the murukku press. You can do it on the back of the laddle too..
Heat oil in kadai , When it is hot add pressed murukku Turn it after 1 min and fry till the are cooked or till hissing sound subside. Drain from oil to paper towels.
Store it in airtight container.
