Oats Tikki – Oats patties – Healthy snack recipe

My kids love any tikki. I love it too because you can serve it in multiple ways as snack or as patties for burger or stuffing for wraps. This also can quick way to hide vegetables for your fussy eaters. I particularly like this tikki as it uses lentil as a base not potato. This can be served as starters or as snack for after school / work. It is quite tasty and filling yet very healthy snack

Ingredients

Moong dhal / split yellow dal – 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Oats flour – 1.5 to 2 cups (start with 1.5 and add more depending on the consistency of the dough)
Grated carrot – 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon
Green chillies – 2 (chopped finely. Adjust to your spice level)
Bread crumbs as needed
Oil for shallow frying

For Paste

Corn flour – 1.5 tablespoon
All purpose flour – 1.5 tablespoon
Salt to taste

Method:

Dry roast the oats and grind to smooth powder.
Wash and soak moong dal for 30 mins. Cook till it cooked. No need to cook till totally mushy just cook till when you press it with fingers it is mashable. I have used pressure cooker and cook till 1 whistle

Let it cool down. Drain the water and grind it to smooth paste. Add Carrot, coriander leaves, Salt, Oats flour and green chillies. Make a dough.

Divide the dough into equal lemon size balls. Flatten it to make nice round tikkis / patties.

Make a paste out of ingredients under paste section. Dip the patties in the paste and roll it with bread crumbs.

Heat the flat pan and add oil around it and cook it turn it over and add another teaspoon of oil. cook again

Serve hot with favourite chutney or sauce
