Peanut is one ingredient everyone in our family loves in any form. I tasted peanut murukku at my friends place and loved it. She told me it is one of her mum’s speciality so i noted down. Similar to my mum, she was giving measurement more from eye. So using my own judgement I have added to the below measurement. It came out very nice. Whenever I do murukku it disappear in 1 weekend worst case couple of more days.. this one no exception
Ingredients:
Rice flour / Idiyappam flour – 2 cups
Butter (at room temperature) – 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Asafoetida / hing/ Perungayam – 2 pinch
Roasted white Sesame seeds – 2 teaspoon
roasted urad dal powder – 1/4 cup
roasted Peanut – 1/2 cup
red chlli powder – 1 teaspoon
Garlic – 10 pods
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Grind peanut, red chilli powder and garlic into smooth paste
Take rest of the ingredients except oil in a broader vessel. Add grinded paste too
Add water little by little and make a smooth dough. Now take a murukku presser.
And Heat the oil in a curved pan. When the oil is hot add pressed murukku one by one. You have to slide each murkku slowly one by one by side of the pan. Make sure you leave enough place for murukku to move around. Cook Murukkus at medium flame till “Shhhh” sound subside. Turn the murukku few times while cooking. Drain the extra oil and take the murukku out of the oil and leave it on kitchen tissue to drain extra oil
