Pepper(milagu) Aval (Poha / beaten rice)

Aval is something I do almost every week at least once. I love it because it is so easy to make and create variations. It is also light. Today I made quick Pepper Poha for my  breakfast. This can be good evening snack for the kids
Ingredients

Aval (Poha / beaten rice) – 1 Cup
Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Pepper corns – 3/4 teaspoon
Onion – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Salt per taste
Curry leaves – 10
Dry Red Chillies – 1 (broken into small pieces)
Mustard Seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Urad Dhal – 1 teaspoon
Bengal Gram dhal – 1 teaspoon
Oil – 2 teaspoon
water – 2 tablespoon
Mint Leaves – 1 teaspoon

Method:

Wash and drain Aval / Poha / beaten rice

Using hand pestle grind cumin seeds and pepper corns into coarse powder

Heat the kada and add oil. When oil is hot add mustard seeds. Let it pop. Add dhals, curry leaves and red chilly. Fry till dhals are brown in color. Add onion and fry till it is cooked (if you add pinch of salt onion will get cooked fast). Add washed aval and cumin seeds and pepper powder. Mix well. Mix in Salt in the water and drizzle over it and mix well. Let it cook for 3-5 mins. Add in Mint leaves and mix well

Serve hot
