Other day I was breaking my head on what to do for dinner. Kids wanted something different. I remember I tried dosa with Phoa and buttermilk sometime ago (after couple of time I stopped doing it for some reason). So I have decided to do that. If you like milky / buttermilk taste this is perfect change to normal dosa/idli
Ingredients
Idli Rice – 2.5 Cup
Poha / Aval – 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon
Buttermilk – 4 Cup
Salt per taste
Baking Soda – 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Oil / Ghee for dosa ( I have used Oil)
Method:
Wash the Poha till it is clean. Wash the rice. Soak both Poha and Rice together in buttermilk for about 10 hours (overnight is better). Wash poha separately as you might have sand other impurity in Phoa before soaking together with Rice. Grind the soaked rice/phoa with salt to a smooth batter. Use the buttermilk (used for soaking) for grinding also
Heat the flat tawa. When it is hot pour the batter. This dosa should be inUttapam or ooththappam or Uthappa or uthappam cosistency. Sprinkle oil or ghee around the dosa
Close the dosa with cover and cook it well. No need to turn this dosa.
Serve hot with Coconut chutney or your favourite chutney
