I have tried this raw idli rice at my cousin’s place. For last year’s Navaratri pooja I visited one of my cousin’s places and they served this. It tasted different from idli normally I make. When I asked for it she told me it is used with raw rice. She also told me we shouldn’t offer anything with bar boiled rice. so during festivals, she makes raw rice base idli and offers to god. I wanted to try for this festive season. It came out well.
Ingredients:



Raw rice – 2 cup
Urad dal – 1 cup
Methi seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Poha – 2 tablespoon
Sesame oil as required



Method: 


Wash rice and soak it in boiling water for 2 hrs

Wash and soak urad dhal for 3 hrs. Soak Poha for 1 hr

Drain the water and grind urad dal till it is fluffy. Remove it from the grinder. Add rice, poha, and grind it coarsely with required water. Raw rice will not require the same amount of water as bar boiled rice

Add grinded urad dal batter & salt. Grind it for 2-3 mins. Remove it. Let it ferment it for 6-8 hrs

Grease idli plate with oil and pour batter. Cook for 10-13 mins or till inserted stick comes out clean

Once done remove it
Offer to god! enjoy it!
