Small Potato Pulav

I brought small potato to do palak potato my kids wanted palak paneer. So I had left over small potato. I remembered pulav from Mallika Badrinath. This recipe has unique blend of spices. It is free from normal biryani seasoning. So if you want to try some variety rice but bored of usual rice(s) you can try out this.. It tastes really good

Ingredients:
Bastmathi rice – 1 Cup
Small Potato – about 10 -14
Tomato – 2
Onion – 1 ( Chopped finely. You want to have it longer u can do it also)
Water – 2
Fresh curd – 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves – 2 cup
Garam masala – 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Red Chillies – 4
Green Chillies – 2
Coconut – 3 tablespoon
Oil – 1.5 tablespoon
Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon (finely chopped)
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method:

Wash the rice and soak it for 10 mins. Drain the water. Heat the kada and add 1/2 tablespoon  oil. Fry the rice till moisture absorbed.

Pressure cook potatoes and peel the skin. Using fork make holes in it

Dry roast Coriander Seeds, Red chillies and coconut. Add green chillies and coriander leaves and fry for 2-3 mins. Switch off the flame and let it cool down. When it cool down grind it to nice paste with 1/2 cup of water

Beat the yogurt and keep it aside. Blanch the tomato and make juice. Keep it aside. (U have used same blender used to make the gravy of Coriander so the color is green)

Heat the kada and add rest of the oil. when it is hot add cumin seeds and let it crackle. Add onion and fry till it is crisp. Add grinded masala and ginger garlic paste. Fry till raw smell goes off. Add Tomato juice, yogurt, salt and garam masala. Add 2 cup of water, potatoes and let it boil. Add rice to it and close the lid to cook. These days I cook variety rices in the pan itself. It gets cooked fast. You can use rice cooker or pressure cooker. If you are using rice or pressure cooker just add 1 3/4 cup of water.

Once cooked add 2 tablespoon of coriander leaves and mix well
Serve hot with your favourite raitha
