Snake Gourd Jack fruit Seeds kootu

I love jack fruit. I am so lucky that we get this in SG almost any time of the year. Back home buying and taking out the fruit is very big process as my mum used to buy the full fruit. Those days my grandma used to make lot of dishes with Jack fruit seeds also. Normally I add seeds when I make drumstick sambar. This time I wanted to make kootu with it so I have started saving the seeds. It is very tasty and simple dish which goes well with rice or chappathi / roti / chapathi
Ingredients

Snake gourd – 2 cup (diced into 1/2 inch cubes)
Moong Dhal (pasi paruppu) – 1/2 cup
turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Onion – 1/2 (chopped finely)
Red chillies – 3 to 5 (broken into 2)
cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Jack fruit seeds – 1 cup
Rice flour – 2 teaspoon (if needed)
Salt per taste
oil – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:
Cook Moong dhal with water and turmeric powder (I have used pressure cooker and cooked till 2 whistle)

Peel the outer skin of Jack fruite seed and slice thinly.
Heat the kada and add oil. When oil is hot add cumin seeds. Let it crackle. Add onion and red chilli. Fry till onion is cooked. Add Jack fruit seeds seeds and fry for 2 mins. Add diced snake gourd and fry for another min. Add cooked dhal and salt. Mix well. Pressure cook it for 3-4 whistle.

If the kootu is watery mix rice flour with water and add it to the kootu. Let it boil for another 2-3 min

Enjoy it with rice/roti
