This is relatively new dish for me. My mum didn’t do this till my college days. After that we used to engage a cook during our vacation / function days. He used to be from Srilanka. He always does this for idiyappam. I seldom do this at home till recently due coconut milk in it. Sometime ago I have used 1/2 coconut and 1/2 soya milk and taste is perfectly good. From there onwards I always use that in my Sodhi recipe. It is really very easy to do and tasty also
Ingredients:
Favourite vegetable – 1 Cup ( I have used cauliflower. Separate the cauliflower and cook it water and salt. Keep it aside)
Green Chillies – 8-10 (to your spice level) Slit into 2
Cumin Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Onion – 2-3 slice thinly (My son is not a big fan of onion so I have reduced it just 1 and half. But I feel more onion tastes better)
Tomatoes – 2 (cut into bigger junks or sliced thinly length wise)
Coconut milk – 3/4 Cup
Soya Milk – 1.25 Cup ( I have mixed soya milk powder in the water. Follow the instruction on the package to make soya milk)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves – 10
Method:
Heat the kada and add oil. When it is hot add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Let it crackle. Add onion, Green chillies, Salt and fry till Onion is cooked ( no need to fry till brown in color). Add tomatoes and fry for 1 to 1.5 mins. No need to fry till mushy
Add cooked Cauliflower and soya milk let it boil (I let it boil for about 4-5 mins)
Add coconut milk and boil it (about 3 mins)
Switch it off and serve hot with rice or idiyappam

Sodhi with string hoppers are the best pairing. Ate and still eating such classic food. I float the hoppers with sodhi, use my hand to rumble in and eat to glory. Awesome recipe and yes, my fav.
