Thandai – Thandai Recipe – Holi recipes – Spiced Milk – Maha Shivaratri vrat recipes

As I stated in many of my previous posts I really need some flavour to my milk. Otherwise it is difficult to swallow. We don’t celebrate Holi. But after starting this blog I got know lot about new festivals and traditions. My cousin is born and brought up in North India. I got this recipe from her.. Here you go with the flavoured milk recipe.. This can be quite refreshing for this Summer or Maha shivaratri prasad
Ingredients
Almond – 8-10
Fennel seeds – 2 teaspoons
Poppy seeds – 1 teaspoon
Peppercorns – 8 (adjust to your spice level)
Cardamom powder – a pinch
Rose water – 1/2 teaspoon
Saffron – few strands disolved in 1 tablespoon of warm water (few for garnishing)

Sugar to taste (I have used 3 tablespoon but you can go up to 5)
Rose petal for decorating
Milk – 2 cups (I have used low fat)

Method

Soak Almond, Fennel seeds, Pepper corns and Poppy seeds for 30 mins. Grind to smooth paste with little milk. You can remove the skin of almond if you prefer. I like to keep the skin due to the goodness in it.

Boil the milk and let it cool down. Add grounded paste, pepper powder, cardamom powder and rose water. Leave it for 4-5 hours in refrigerator.

When you are ready to serve drain it using strainer and add sugar to milk and mix well

Serve cold. Enjoy it
