This one is my husband favourite. He loves if it done based on my mum recipe. My mum is an expert in this.. She use ghee in the recipe instead of oil. I use oil. Kids are used this taste and they think her original recipe is not that good 🙁 but for my hubby anytime my mum version is best!
Ingredients:
Fully ripe Tomato – 10 Medium size
Green Chillies – 4
Ginger – 2 inch (chopped finely)
Coconut – 1/2 Cup
Roasted Gram Dhal – 1 tablespoon
Poppy Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Small onion – 5
Fennel seeds – 1 teaspoon
Big Onion- 2 (Chopped thin length wise)
cinnamon -2 Inch
Cloves – 6
Bay leaves – 2
Garlic – 4 (slice thinly)
Red Chilli Powder – 2 tablespoon
Salt as required
Oil – 4 tablespoon
Method
Put tomatoes in hot water and cook it (till the skin break). Switch off and let it cool
Remove the skin mash it with hand keep it aside
Heat Kada
Add 2 teaspoon Oil when Oil is hot add ginger, small onion green chillies, Poppy Seeds, Fennel seeds and fry till onion is soft
Add roasted gram and Coconut and fry for 2 mins
Grind the fried ingredients to thick paste
Heat the 2 tablespoon of oil
Add Cinnamon, Cloves and bay leaves when nice smell comes add garlic and Sliced onion
Fry till Onion is brown
Add grinded paste and fry till nice smell comes (about 10 mins)
Add mashed tomatoes and red chilli powder
Let it boil. Let it cook till nice smell and thick gravy consistency (will take about 20 – 25 mins in medium heat) Need to mix it at regular interval.
Switch off
This can be used to mix with Rice, Beehoon, Iddiyappam etc…
