Urad Dhal Rice

I love any rice which is simple and easy to match. Someone came from India and got me skined half urad dhal. I was mentioning to my MIL sometime ago when chatted with her thro’ phone about the urad dhal rice. And remembered to send urad dhal when someone came from India. This rice is simple and easy to match with any side dish. Despite of less ingredients used in this it is quite flavourful rice.
Ingredients

Rice – 1 Cup (Preferably Bastmati rice but I ran out of it so used normal white rice)
Urad Dhal – 1/2 Cup
Cumin Seeds powder – 1 teaspoon
Garlic – 1 bulb (about 15-20 pods)
Coconut – 2 tablespoon
Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil (Gingerly Oil) – 1 teaspoon
Mint leaves – 1 tablespoon
Green Chillies

Method:

Wash and soak rice the for 10 mins. Drain the water and keep it aside. Wash the dhal and mix it with rice also

Heat the kada and add oil. When oil is hot add fenugreek and garlic. Fry till garlic is in slight brown color. Add Coconut, Cumin seeds powder, Green Chillies and Mint leaves. Fry for another 2 mins

Add Rice and dhal and fry for another min. Add 3 cups of water (Follow the water requirement as stated in the rice pocket. For me 3 is good enough). Add salt and mix well. Check for salt content and adjust the salt accordingly

Transfer this to Rice cooker container and cook it. If you are using Rice cooker cook till 3 whistle. Serve hot.
