Valaikai (Raw Banana) Poriyal

As we become more and more health conscious, I used to either make vegetables by steaming and just seasoning or more salads/soups. My Kids and husband are usually OK with most of stuff. But still there are some vegetables they will insist on having fried. Valaikai is one of that..

Ingredients:

Green Banana – 4
Sambar podi – 4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
Urad Dhal – 2 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves – 1 string
Cron Flour –  1 TablespoonSalt – 1 teaspoon or as per taste
Oil – 2 tablespoon

Method:
Remove the skin from banana and cut it into ¼ inch thick round pieces and put it in water.
Wash well and take out from water and put it in a broad vessel. Add salt, turmeric and sambar powder . Sprinkle little water and mix well. Keep aside for ten to fifteen minutes.
In a kadai put the oil and when it is hot, Add Mustard seeds when it start to splutter add urad dhal fry till golden brown. Add Curry Leaves and fry for 30 sec
Add the banana pieces and stir well. Separate each piece and cover with lid. Cook on low flame for five to ten minutes stirring (actually you have to turn the pieces gently) now and then.
Remove the lid and turn the banana pieces and keep it on low flame on stove till it is dry and crispy.
