ValaiPoo (Plantain flower) Poriyal

After long time managed to find Valaipoo  was contemplating whether to use it for vada
or new reciepe I saw or was thinking about (soup) or poriyal by looking at size
of the flower I thought we can try both Soup and Poriyal by the time finish
cutting realized only Poriyal can be done. So here you go




Ingredients:
·         Plantain flower / Valai Poo- 1 (cleaned and chopped)   — For how to clean you can refer to http://www.ganeshvilla.com/bananas/banana_flower_salad.htm
Tips: you can apply oil in your hand to prevent
from turning black

onion –
1 (Chopped finely)
·        
Red
chillies- 2
·        
mustard
seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
·        
urad
dhal- 1/4 teaspoon
·        
curry
leaves – 1 brig
·        
3/4th
Cooked Thuar Dhal –  ¼ Cup
·        
salt –
1/4 teaspoon
·        
cooking
oil- 1 teaspoon
Method:
  • Heat a Pan. Add oil when oil is heated add mustard seeds
  • After the mustard seed pops, add Urad Dhal, Red Chillies and Curry Leaves
  • Add Onion and Fry for 2-3 mins
  • Add the Chopped Valai Poo
  • Stir fry everything. Add Salt and 1/4 cup water and cover the pan with a lid
  • After 10 mins the valai poo will get cooked
  • Add cooked Thuar Dhal. Mix well and serve hot as side dish to any rice
