Summer around the corner. It is so hot outside. You can see all summer treats everywhere. Watermelon is everywhere. I tried this last season i however couldn’t get the final picture. Wanted to post this at the beginning of the season. I get seedless watermelon so I don’t have to strain if you get watermelon with seeds then remove the seeds before making juice Or make juice and strain it. My husband could not find out what was in the rasam except the color. Nice red color really tempting.. I could have this as soup also
Ingredients
Tamarind water – 1/2 cup (small marble size tamarind)
Cooked Toor dal – 3/4 cup
Watermelon Juice – 2 cup
Rasam Powder – 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Garlic – 3 (Grate it)
Curry leaves – 10 (crush it)
Green chillies – 2 Slit into 2
Ghee – 1.5 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Fennel seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds – few
Asafoetida / hing – 1/4 teaspoon
Method:
Heat pan with ghee. Add mustrad seeds, cumin seeds let it crackle. Add Fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds, Hing, Curry leaves, Green chillies. Fry for 30 sec Add Garlic. Fry for another 30 sec. Add Tamarind water and salt. Let it boil
Add cooked dal and Rasam powder. Adjust water and salt.
Let it boil. Add watermelon juice. Boil till foam forms. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Switch it off
