Wheat Appam – Simple sweet recipe – Simple snack recipe – Pooja recipe – Naivedyam recipes

If have guests at home and not prepared enough you can try this Sweet Wheat appam. This is one of my tea time snack. I always like jaggery based sweet / snacks. This one is very simple to do and you can satisfy your sweet cravings in healthier way too. This can be a good evening snack for kids who is fond of sweet(s)
Ingredients
Wheat flour – 3/4 cup
Oats flour – 1/4 cup (If you don’t have it you can increase wheat to 1 cup)
Roasted rava – 1/4 cup
Salt – a pinch
Baking soda – a pinch
Jaggery – 1/2 cup to 1/2 + 2 tablespoon (adjust to your sweetness)
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Mix in wheat flour, oats flour, roasted rava, salt, baking soda, Cardamom powder in a broader bowl. Melt the jaggery with 1/2 cup of water and drain to remove impurities. Add this to the flour and mix well.

Add water as needed to have smooth dosa consistency batter without any lumps.
Heat the oil in the pan and when the oil is hot pour the batter using small spoon. Cook till the appam is in golden brown color. Repeat the process till all the batter is done. Drain the extra oil.

serve hot / cold. I like the jaggery sweets next day. It tastes better. But it is your choice
