Whole wheat Naan without Yeast recipe – Whole wheat naan Recipe – Homemade naan recipe – Indian Bread recipes

My son loves all types of Naan. I always make naan without yeast. I wanted to try whole wheat naan instead of using all purpose flour or maida. When I tried with complete whole wheat it tasted more like Tandoori roti. So I decided to try out with half half. My son told me this one is not that bad. It is almost close to the original recipe.. You can adjust the wheat flour as per your preference. You can even do complete wheat flour too.
Ingredients:

Whole wheat flour – 2.5 cup
All purpose flour – 2.5 cup
Salt to taste
brown sugar – 2 tablespoon
Yogurt – 1 cup
Baking soda – 4 pinches
Baking powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Oil – 1 tablespoon + 1/4 teaspoon per NAAN while cooking

Method

In a wide bowl add all purpose flour, Salt and wheat flour. Mix well. Make a well in the center. Add Yogurt, sugar, baking soda, baking powder. Bring together with your finger tips. Add water and make soft dough. Add Oil at the end and make a the smooth dough. Close it with wet cloth for 2-3 hrs min. Longer would be better

Take about lemon size ball (bigger than chapatht / chapatti) and roll into round chapatti. you can dust it with wheat or all purpose flour for rolling

now pull the ends to get the naan shape. Heat the flat pan / tawa with handle. Apply water on one side of the Naan (other side to garlic one) by wetting your hands.

When the Pan is hot put Naan on the tawa with watered side touching the pan. Close the pan with lid and cook for 45 sec in medium flame.

When you remove the lid you can see bubbles on the Naan. Now turn pan using handle so that top side of naan can be cooked directly on the flame. Cook till nice brown spot appears. Remove it from the pan and apply butter on the top

Serve hot with your favourite side dish
