Oats Poha Uppuma – Oats Poha Upma

Since we have Oats regularly, any change in the way it is getting cooked would be welcomed. This is yet another attempt to try new combination.. It turned out to be pretty good. This can be served as breakfast or even can be good for light lunch box. 

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup rolled Oats
1 Cup – Poha
Peas/Carrot -1 Cup
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
2 Green Chillies split into 2
1 Onion finely chopped
Salt per taste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
2 teaspoon of oil
Curry leaves – 10
Nuts – (optional) Fry it in Ghee or oil and keep it aside. I didn’t add
Method:
Wash and soak Phoa and Oats seperately for  5-10 mins
Drain the water and keep it aside (don’t mix it yet)
Heat the kada and add  oil. when Oil is hot add mustard seeds, Cumin seeds  when it start to crackle add green chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves and fry for 20 sec
Add chopped onion and fry till it is transparent

                                     

Add Peas and Carrot and sprinkle water, salt and cool it

Add Oats mix it well and let it cook for  2-3 mins (by closing lid)

Add Phoa and mix well and salt . Sprinkle water and close the lid and cook.

Switch off the heat once Oats and Phoa are cooked. Add Lemon juice, Nuts (if you are adding) and mix well. Serve hot. You can serve it with your favourite chutney
