Murukku!! Our family’s all-time favourite snack. I started adding some flavoured murukkus only after blogging. Otherwise, I do a simple one. After Onion Murukku I wanted to try Garlic. But I also wanted to do a spicy version with garlic. Finally, I managed to do this sometime ago and it was lying in my draft for some time. What is a better opportunity to post other than this festival season?. Half way finished before even I finished making it. I felt it was one of the best version of murukku. Do try it out and let me know.
Ingredients:
Rice Flour / Idiyappam flour – 3.5 cup (I have used store brought)
Red chilli powder – 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon (adjust to your spice level)
Garlic – 1/2 of big blub (For me I have used 15)
Butter – 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Roasted Urad dhal powder – 1/2 cup
Roasted sesame seeds – 2 teaspoon
asafoetida – 2 pinch
Oil for deep frying
Method:
Grind Garlic, Chilli powder, salt with 1/4 cup of water
Take Rice flour, Urad dhal powder, Asafoetida, Roasted sesame seeds, Grinded paste, Butter in a broader vessel. Add water to make to non sticky dough
Take murkku presser and place your favourite plate. I have used a single hole star plate
Press it on to tissue paper (do it in your favourite size or shape)
Heat oil in a deep curved pan. Take the pressed murukku using a flat spoon and place it in hot oil one by one. Cook it in medium flame till it is cooked.
When it is cooked bubble will cease. Drain the extra oil and place it on kitchen tissue paper for draining extra oil. Repeat the process
Store it in Airtight container. Enjoy
