My family favourite is variety rice. But surprisingly I never did Jeera rice so far. I wanted to make some simple yet different dishes for the lunch this weekend. I was looking for options. My criteria is simply less time at kitchen. What could fit better than Jeera Rice
Ingredients:
Basmati Rice – 1 Cup
Cumin Seeds – 2 tablespoon
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Aniseed- 1
Cloves – 3-4
Cardamom- 3
Onion – 1 (sliced thinly)
Oil / butter – 2 teaspoon
Water – 1 1/2 cup
Method:
Wash and soak the basmati rice for 10 mins. Drain and fry in 1/2 teaspoon oil till all moisture gone.
Add Cumin seeds and let it crackle. Add onion and fry till it is slight brown in color
Add rice and water and a pinch of salt. and cook the rice ( I have used rice cooker. You can pressure cook also.If using pressure cooker cook till 2-3 whistles in medium flame). Once rice is cooked pluff it.
Serve hot with Paneer Butter Masala or Malai Kofta
