Manoharam Recipe | Sweet Murukku Recipe | Healthy And Tasty Sweet Murukku Recipe By Veena Theagarajan

This is a very traditional snack made with Jaggery. The murukku ingredients are similar to Thenkuzhal . I had tasted this at my friends place for the first time during my school days. And during one of the deepavali exchange we got it from our neighbours. It was totally new for us. Recently I had this again at Ashwin sweet shop after a very long time. So for this deepavali I decided to try out. This can be done for Karthigai deepam too.
Ingredients

Rice flour – 1 cup
Urad dal – 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Melted butter – 1 tablespoon
Oil for deep frying
Jaggery – 3/4 cup
Dry ginger powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ghee as required

Method:
In a bowl take rice flour, urad dal, salt and melted butter. Mix well.

Add water little by little to make smooth dough. In a murkku achu/ mold take 3 holes plate. Stuff the batter.

Heat oil for deep frying. Press the murukku directly to oil. Cook it at medium flame. Turn it to get it cooked. Once done take it out.

Once cool down break it. Keep it aside

Heat jaggery with water. Once melt strain to remove impurity (I skipped this as my jaggery was clean). Add dry ginger powder and cardamom powder.

Continue to boil toll soft ball consistency achieved. Switch off. Add Broken murukku. Mix well.

Leave it for 5-7 mins. Apply ghee on your palm and take murukku mixture to make ladoo

Manoharam ready!
Enjoy!
