Peanut masala chutney – Peanut masala Dip – Side dish for Idli, Dosa, Paratha

Peanut! My family goes nuts about it. My kids love the flavour of peanut. I can safely say at least 1/2 of my earning goes in buying peanut and peanut butter. During my last trip to Trichy my mum has ordered food from outside. It came with chutney. It looked bright red in color. So everyone thought it was tomato chutney but when tasted we are all pleasantly surprised by the taste of peanut in it. Needless to say we all love it! I tried to do it at home with my own guess of the ingredients. We loved it too. My version is less spicy if you want more spicier pls. increase no of chillies.
Ingredients

Onion – 1 (thinly sliced)
Tomatoes – 3 (medium size. Chopped finely)
Garlic – 5 pods
Red chillies – 5-7 (adjust to your spice level)
Salt to taste
Roasted Peanut – 1/2 cup
Coconut – 3 tablespoon
Oil – 1.5 tablespoon
Curry leaves – 10 +20
Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon

Method:

Heat 3 teaspoon of oil. Add garlic, 20 curry leaves and fry till garlic is slight brown color. Add onion and fry till transparent.

Add tomato and fry till mushy. Add coconut and fry for 2 mins. Add peanut and fry for a min

Switch it off and let it cool down. And grind to thick paste.

Heat rest of the oil. Add mustard seeds and let it pop. Add curry leaves and urad dhal. Fry till dal is in brown color
