Pearl Onion Pulav – Shallots pulav – Small Onion Pulav – simple one pot meal – Kids friendly rice recipe

I wanted to try some rice without much spice or very little spice. I love the garlic flavour in all dishes. This rice calls for lot of garlic and small onion so I was pretty confident that options of going wrong is very little. It is a simple yet very tasty rice. I guess the rich taste is from the Cream I have added. So don’t omit it. Of course you can add low fat one
Ingredients
brown rice – 1 cup (wash and soak for 2 hours)

Garlic – 10-12 pods (chopped finely)
Shallots / small onion – 15 (if it small no need to cut otherwise cut into 2 pieces)
Oil – 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
Pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Cream – 2 tablespoon
Bay leaves – 1
Cloves, Cardamom – 2 each
Cinnamon – 1 inch
Star – 1
Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup



Method


Heat the oil when hot add Bay leaves, cloves, caradmom, cinnamon, star. Fry for 30 sec. Add garlic and fry till it is brown in color. Add Onion and fry for 2 mins. Add 2.5 cups of water, pepper powder and salt let it boil.

Add soaked rice and let it cook by closing lid. When the rice is cooked 3/4th add 2 tablespoon of cream. Once cooked switch it off. Add coriander leaves mix well

Serve hot

    when i read the heading i was like what pear and onion pulav, so was looking for pear in recipe, but i guess thats name of onion. Looks yummy and great to know that you cooked always with brown rice.

    Am tempted to make this!! Will make it for my sons lunch tomorrow, my daughter isnt fond of spices but am sure this will interest her too: ) Thanks for the wonderful and simple recipe
