I bookmarked this recipe some months ago. But we don’t get it in the market. However recently we have planted in the downstairs garden which is giving lots of pumpkin and flowers. So when I saw a lot of flowers decided to try them out. My son was surprised and he thought I was joking. But when he tasted it he liked it too. It is definitely a very good alternative to regular bajji / fritters. Normally I make Valakkai / raw banana / vazhaikai. I have added all-purpose flour and bhaji flour mix. It became a bit soft after it is cool down. If you are making for a party use rice flour with Bhaji flour.
Ingredients:
All-purpose flour – 1/4 cup
Bhaji flour – 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
Hot oil – 1 tablespoon
Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
Hing / Asafoetida – 1 generous pinch
Oil for deep fry
Method:
Clean the flower. Wash it and remove the bottom part this will remove the center stem. Wash well. Keep it aside
In a bowl add all the dry ingredients mix well
Dip the flower one at a time and place it in hot oil. Let it cook on medium flame. Turn at regular intervals.
serve hot!
