Sattur Kara Sev recipe – Kara Sev with Garlic (Poondu) recipe – Snack recipes – Diwali recipes – Kids friendly

This is a very quick and tasty snack for kids or for evening tea. I have posted pepper flavour Karasev before. My mum still does Karasev using traditional laddle. In fact my last trip when I was in India I wanted to try with traditional Laddle. It took few batches before I get it right (yeah close to right). For this recipe I went back with murukku mold. I loved this variation too. Raosted Gram dal powder is something that I have added in dough. if you don’t have it you can skip it
Ingredients

Bengal gram dal flour / Besan flour / Kadalamavu – 1 cup
Rice flour – 2 tablespoon
Roasted Gram Flour – 2 tablespoon
Garlic paste – 2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Butter – 1 tablespoon (room temperature)
Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon (adjust to spice level)
Hing / asafoetida – 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds – 1/2 teaspoon

Method:
In 1/2 cup of water add hing, salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder and mix till salt is dissolved
Take besan, rice & roasted gram dhal flour in a bowl. Add butter (I have added in the water but you can add it in flour) mix well.

Add water and make smooth dough

Take  murukku mold and stuff it with lemon size dough.

Heat oil for deep frying. Once oil is hot directly press the dough in circular motion.
Let it cook completely turning few times in between

Once done remove it from oil. Place it on tissue and once cool down break it roughly.

Store ti in air tight container and enjoy!
