My 2nd son loves Senai Kizhangu esp simple senai fry. Since it is easy to do and tasty I make it very often. Once in a while I also do Senai Tawa Fry. Both my mum and my mother in law do this very differently. This recipe is from them. This goes very well with More / Mor Kulambu (Kuzhambu). Try this slightly different fry. Kids liked it too

Yam – 300g
Oil – 3 tablespoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
curry leaves – 10
Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
Grind to smooth paste
Small onion – 5
Red chillies – 2-3 (adjust to your spice level)
Grated coconut – 3 tablespoon
Cumin seeds powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/8 teaspoon
Salt per taste
Method:
Half cook the yam and drain the water. Keep it aside.
Dry roast Red chillies and coconut. Add 1/2 teaspoon and fry onion till transparent. Add coriander and cumin seeds powder fry for 30 sec. Let it cool down. First powder the dry roasted red chillies. Then add onion, coconut grind to smooth paste.
Heat the pan / kada. Add oil. When it is hot add mustard seeds. Let it pop. Ad urad dhal and curry leaves. Fry till dhal is brown in color. Add cooked Yam and grinded paste. Mix well. Fry till the yam is crispy or turn nice brown color.
