Every time I do certain dishes for dinner my husband need some other dish to go with it like Salad, Sundal or soup. Today I didn’t plan properly so ended by without anything. I was looking for quick option. I have decided to do Moong Dal Salad (Pasi parupu salad / Sookhi Moong Dal) It is so easy and healthy. You can do it quick if you have any unexpected guest for tea time
Ingredients:
Moong Dhal / Pasi parrupu / split green Gram dhal – 1 Cup
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Oil – 1 tablepoon
Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
Green Chillies – 1
Red chilli powder – 1/4 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Asafoetida – Pinch
Ginger – 2 inch pieces ( I have used 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste instead)
Lemon juice – 2 tablespoon
curry leaves – 10
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro – 1 tablespoon (finely Chopped)
Salt per taste
Method:
Soak the dhal in 1 and 1/2 cup of water for 30 to 45 mins. Boil the dhal with water, turmeric powder and salt. Don’t over cook the dhal must retain it’s shape. Drain the extra water if any (You can use this water for rasam or sambar)
Heat the kada and add oil. When it is hot add cumin seeds and let it crackle add asafoetida and fry for 5 sec. Add green chillies, curry leaves and ginger and fry for 30 sec. Add cooked dhal and chilli powder. Mix well. Make sure you don’t mash the dhal. Add lemon juice and mix well. Cook till all the moisture absorbed
Garnish with Coriander leaves and Serve hot
