Recently my go tho chutney is this spicy roasted gram chutney. It is so simple yet goes well with idli/ dosa/ adai/ Pongal. Love the combination. If you don’t feel like cooking you can even skip the tempering. Even without tempering this tastes amazing. This can be done in under 10 mins. This is perfect for even beginners. This is one of the simpler ones right after coconut chutney. Still coconut chutney tastes differ based on coconut being used. This one you can get a consistent taste every time
Ingredients
Red chili – 5-6 (Adjust to your spice level)
Roasted gram – 3/4 cup
grated coconut – 1/4 cup
Garlic – 3 pods
Salt to taste
Tamarind -1 teaspoon
Oil- 2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
Urad dal – 2 teaspoons
curry leaves – 10
Method:
Take chili, roasted gram, coconut, tamarind, garlic & salt in a blender. Grind to smooth chutney using water. Adjust the water as per the desired consistency
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. let it splutter. Add urad dal, curry leaves, and fry till brown in color. Add to the chutney. Mix well
