After posting few Naan recipes Kashmiri Naan, Butter Naan, Garlic Naan I wanted to try Tandoori roti. It is a healthier option than Naan because it is made with whole wheat flour. I have seen recipes with combination of wheat flour and all purpose flour. But I have decided to use only whole wheat. I was not sure it would be as good as Naan because I don’t use yeast and it is done on stove top. It came out pretty good. Kids loved it
Ingredients
Whole wheat flour – 4 cups
Baking soda – 2 pinches
Baking powder – 2 pinches
Salt to taste
Yogurt – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Oil – 2 tablespoon
Method:
Sift together Flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Take this in a broad vessel. Make a well in the center. Add yogurt, sugar and oil. Bring together the flour with your finger till the the dough is crumbly.
Now add water little by little and make a smooth dough. Cover it with wet cloth leave it aside for at least 1 hr.
Take a lemon size ball. Roll it into slightly thick roti using plain flour to dust it.
Heat the flat pan and place the rolled roti. When it is just start to get brown spot turn it over. and cook it till brown spot start to appear.
Place this in a bread toaster and toast it for 2 mins.
Serve hot with your favourite side
