Amla (Nellikai) in Butter Milk – Healthy recipe

I love Amla. Butter milk is my favourite way to include dairy product as part of my meal. As I mentioned in my previous posts on Amla I try to have Amla every day. I wanted to try spiced butter milk with amla. This can be used as drink or you can mix it with rice also. If you like Amla or for it’s goodness you want to include as part of your diet, this is one of the dishes you should try
Ingredients:
Buttermilk – 2 cups
Mor Milagai (Buttermilk chilies) – 3-4 split into 2 (If you don’t have take green chillies)
Amla/nellikkai – 5-6
Beasan flour – 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Asafoetida a pinch
Salt per taste
Curry leaves – 10
Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds – 1/4 teaspoon
Urad dhal – 1 teaspoon
chana dal – 1 teaspoon
Red chillies – 5-6 (Adjust to your spice level. Break it roughly)

Method:

Cut the nellikkai  remove the seeds and cook them. Mix turmeric powder, salt, Besan flour with buttermilk without any lumps.

Heat the pan and add oil 1 teaspoon. Add mustard seeds and let it pop. When it pops add curry leaves,  asafoetida, urad dhal, Chana dal, red chillies and nellikai and fry for 30 sec.

Add mixed buttermilk. Let it boil. When it boil switch it off

You can have this with idli, dosa or rice. If you want to have it by itself add 1 cup water ( or to desired consistency) while boiling
