Sorghum Coconut Dosai – Millet Recipes

I love to try different types of dosa.  I was clearing my fridge before my couple weeks holiday. I had a little bit of cholam. I was thinking of making cholam dosa / jowar dosa. But this time with a little bit of coconut milk. Adding coconut milk gave good flavor. My kids loved it too. I have tried it using dosa pan as well as Appam pan. I liked both versions. So you can use per ur preference  I didn’t add Soda if you want to add for making it like appam you can do so too.
Ingredients

Jowar – 1.5 cup
Idli rice – 1.5 cup
Urad dhal – 1/4 cup
Fenugreek seeds – 1/8 teaspoon
Salt to taste
coconut milk – 1.5 cup
Cooked rice – 1 fistful
Oil for cooking dosa

Method:

Wash and soak jowar, rice, urad dhal, fenugreek seeds for 4-5 hrs.

Grind it to a smooth paste and add salt. Mix well

Let it ferment it for 5-7 hrs. Add coconut milk and mix well

Heat pan and take a ladle full of batter and spread it to dosa. Dosa will be little thicker than normal dosa. Sprinkle oil around it let it cook. Turn it over and cook again
If you are using appam pan take a ladle full and circle around it. Sprinkle oil around it. Cook it with the lid closed. Once cooked remove it from Pan

Serve hot
